Dwayne Roberts, M.D. – Pediatric & General Ophthalmology

Fort Worth Eye Doctor

Pediatric and General Ophthalmology, Adult Strabismus

Dwayne Roberts, MD

A Fort Worth native, Dr. Roberts’ entire primary education was in the FW public school system. Earning a Bachelor’s degree at Texas Wesleyan University, he proceeded to attend Medical School at The University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston.

Further training to specialize in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus was undertaken at the prestigious Children’s National Medical Center, Washington D.C. with Dr. Marshall Parks, still considered one of the most prominent pioneers of Pediatric Ophthalmology, Strabismus surgery, and management.

He then spent 4 years in Columbia, South Carolina in private practice when an opportunity arose to practice in his hometown of Fort Worth. Seizing the opportunity to return home, he joined Ophthalmology Associates, heading up the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus service.

Married during Medical School, his wife has also been through almost the entire medical education process earning her own bragging rights, as well. Managing two children and a Photography career keeps her busy. She and their daughter enjoy Horseback riding, and outdoor activities, although finding time often proves challenging.

Dr. Roberts and their son share more than a passing interest in motorsports and racing, with his son actively racing karts in and around the Metroplex area. During his undergraduate days, Dr. Roberts enjoyed drag racing which carried through to his time in medical school. He discovered sailboat racing while on the Texas coast, but landlocked Fort Worth and time constraints have limited such pursuits.

Dr. Roberts currently spends a great deal of time-fighting to keep patients and their physicians in charge of their own healthcare. In his leadership position with North Texas Specialty Physicians he is helping lead the development of Innovations in health care delivery that maintain the sacred relationship between Doctor and Patient, keeping the Government and Insurance companies out of healthcare decision making.

Having a voice in National level discussions regarding the ACA (ObamaCare) and other initiatives allows him not only to be aware of the impact of those changes to the doctor/patient relationship but to shape those changes to protect patients and deliver the quality care they deserve.

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in times of comfort, but where he stands in times of challenge and great controversy.”–Martin Luther King, Jr.
